Final Project & Research: Miiiiixxxed Meeedia

Through out the semester I was looking for an excuse to paint again. I also wanted to learn a new method and style. I started researching Mixed media. Having done some in the past I enjoy it and I think it fits in quite well with New Media. One of the most facinating mixed media artist I came across Jason Mecier, does celebrity mixed media for a living. Jason's work is really good and was great motivation for me. Check out some of his stuff ( http://www.jasonmecier.com/title.html )

I really wanted to do a portrait but the future owner of the painting wanted her lillys. Another very interesting artist in Jen Worden. Jen's work is very dark but also very stylistic, definately worth checking out.

The piece I painted is for my younger sister Carlina. Its a 16x24 canvas, painted in mostly oil colors and resine. Its painted black & white photos over transparent lamanent and oil colors. Its really still a work in progress & the paint is taking quite a long time to dry. Sorry Carlina, your going to have to hold out.

Innovation in New Media: A scavenger HUNT!

I define New Media as innovation its self, Art, entertainment in the media and interactive field. One interesting application of New Media plays a daily role in my work schedule (aside from sketching, painting, doodling, video games, & movies). My office utilizes a mat analysis or digital Xray system that eliminates the old fashion film and places your xrays on a computer that can be viewed at any time. This gives us the ability to manipulate the views allowing for better diagnosis of problems that would be missed with regular film xrays. This system is also very user friend and the program be easily ran by even least experienced computer user.

MY QUANTUM INQUArY...

Quantum theory is quite the opposite of Einstein's Relativity, which relates to the largest things in the universe. Quantum theory deals with matter on a "subatomic" level. This collaboration of great minds (Max Planck and Werner Heisenberg) later determined what to me in the most interesting of the laws which is the "Uncertainty Principle", which is occasionally also referred to as the principle of indeterminacy. Later great minds such as De Broglie, Schrödinger, and Heisenberg proved their own probabilities such as objects having uncertain trajectories. That idea makes sense to me but Schrödinger's cat theory sort of confuses me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat

Perfectly random

I thought I would start things off with a random picture of my word buchia. After I give my project idea I thought long and hard about "celebrating doorways" & after asking friends and family for project ideas. I went back and read the article where I first discovered the word buchia & found that the article makes mention of a doors song (poem) "Awake Ghost Song" weird!!!

Is everybody in?
Is everybody in?
Is everybody in?
The ceremony is about to begin.
WAKE UP!
You can't remember where it was
had this dream stopped?

A chance to redeem myslef

Although I was pretty bummed how I was spending my birthday, I was given another chance to make good on the previous project. Although I think I will stick with the original word. Mary Ellen also made a surprise visit which was good, I have'nt seen her in quite some time. We then also got to take a lunch break which was nice considering the long day.

Tired of looking at this curious word in the mirror

Buchia... Curious to me after, looking at this word on my mirror and trying to gather on my own what it maybe, I dont think I would have ever guessed to be ancient mollusk recently discovered in the Great Valley and Franciscan basement.

Class today

Today we discussed a better direction towards our final project. We also examined ideas and proposals for the final project. It turned out to be a quite a laid back day... I enjoyed it really.

The Republic

This type of conversation is rare these days. You would typically only find it this kind of reading. Philosophy on life, arithmetic and well being. Not that its uninteresting, it was just a little hard to follow.

3 hour bliss

Within my 3 hours of bliss i decided to create and prepare a new dish (dinner/food/entree). I decided to make chili lasagna. I prepared it just as i were to make chili. The ingrediants included: chili powder, beef, green peppers, onions, diced tomatos, tomato juice and tobasco sauce. After making the chili you layer it in lasagna noodles, 5 tier and bake for 45 min at 375. Carefully cover each layer in mild cheddar and crushed crackers. I then spent the rest of my time enjoying the dish.

Peace offering

Over turned desks was a success. It got an immediate response. I dont feel that our socialological experiment demands resolve. I did however feel that the girls reaction at the end of class was a little excessive. I think if we were to make it up to the following class, we should be a little sarcastic. For instance spell something out with the desks, like sorry...or F-U...just kidding but you get the idea.

During class.

In class we discussed Creat...Innov...Inqui... words that have several meanings & i think that was the point of the discussion. Nearly everything has an alternate meaning and resemble something different to someone else. I felt a little distracted by my sketchbook though. I was in the mode from the previous class. Designing characters for an animation. Then we were given the "Senseless" assignment & toppled over our desks which almost immediately got a response from a girl in the next class. Hilarious, see's obviously not seeing sideways!

This egg of mine

It was difficult deciding what to to with this turkey (dinosaur) egg of mine. I'm an artist (drawing, painting, sculpting, photography even a cobbler) and wanted to design some prehistoric creature that might inhabit the shell of the egg. But instead I sat it on my book shelf and left it there for a week. I later came back to come up with an interesting idea and thought it looked cool sitting there on my shelf & i decided to snap this picture instead.

Ive Seen Sideways

First Day of Seeing Sideways: Although skipping the syllabus was the idea we covered it anyways. The egg project was introduced and we ended it with a traditional Wayzgoose!
